    Combat Challenge

OK, so the girls have just come back from a week in the Mount while I was away in Brisbane.

I had a great time over there, a little concerned on the first flight as the row in front of me was empty (of passengers) and had a life-raft in it. WTF?

Training and work, then on the last night I got to catch up with Glen, Glenn, Tara, Rod and Cliff at the Pig and Whistle. An early start to get a flight which was on time until we boarded, and then had it go technical on us. The slide in the rear door was playing up. 30 minutes and a bit of arming and disarming the doors and we were off.

Anyway, back to the office for a day.

Saturday came and Rob, Doug and the 'Team Black Fire' boys who are competing in the Scott Combat Challenge World Championships in Nov were training. So, over a coffee, Rob decided that he would find it funny if Mum beat me at the event. And they were planning a corporate one coming in October. So Mum and I showed up and watched the guys training.

They then had me set off in Level 2's and BA (not on air). I coped with the climb (I should as it's the only exercise I do), the haul aloft was a killer (I have no arm strength), down the stairs to the Keiser beam (where I was a weak as piss), onto the slalom (no issues there) and the hose drag went well, the dummy drag was a killer. I couldn't get him up and then got about 3 metres before falling over and saying I was out. They got me back on my feet and I staggered to the finish line in 4 minutes 34 seconds.

I have to say I was very satisfied to have completed it and survived! Not that my recovery time was all that good.

About an hour later, we got Mum into my Level 2's and she ran the course minus the BA. I'd be positive I beat her up the tower, but her strength hauled me in on the haul aloft and Keiser beam. She managed to run the course in 4 minutes 18 seconds.

So, Rob and Doug are pretty happy to see Mum whip me. I guess I now have 2 target times to beat.

For the record, these guys are doing it in less than 1 minute 50 seconds.   Here is footage of the event from America for your info.

Hopefully, I will have some photos in the next week or so to post. I am not really looking forward to them as I wouldn't have been looking that good.

I hope to run the BNZ tower tomorrow. Something easy, a quick 50 floors or so.

    Ciao

    Not much

Well, I've been in town for 2 weeks now! I have a day trip to New Plymouth on Monday to sort out customers and then am off to Brisbane the following week.

The girls spent last week down at the Mount. No photos taken.

I have actually got off my arse and started training again. Clocked up 850 stairs tonight after going Karting this afternoon. A little sore now, more bruising from the karting. A lovely day, Molly and I went for a quiet stroll to the park and cafe.

I dropped Garry's MGF off at the port to be shipped down to him, great to drive a convertible in the sun. Simon came and collected me and then we swapped cars on the way out to karting to compare. We still have the nicest one. I didn't get the fastest lap, but managed the fastest average lap-time. Not bad for a fat old fool.

Climbed the BNZ tower on Wednesday with Scottie and Josh twice. They are hoping to get me to do it 3 times this week. We'll see.

    Ciao
